SAMPLE PART II

A typeface that emerged through free hand experiments for the publication in ‘Sample Part I’. The red and green colour palette matches that of the album art for ‘The Low End Theory’, creating a direct visual link. The letterforms themselves are made up of angular lines. There are repetitions in the line work that accent the letter in the same or opposing colour. This gives the typeface movement and a nature of unpredictability, resonating with the energy and erratic beat that comes with mixing samples in jazz rap. The upper and lower case type is displayed in two differing posters, as part of a collection of three prints. The third print showcases the type using a lyric from the album.
